MH44 WF rebuild progress

I got the hubs back on the tractor yesterday with new bearings and felts. The hubs turn pretty stiff against the new felt, but it should loosen up quickly.

The Allis chalmers WD tie rods bolts are a little to big, so I will need to ream the tie rod end holes out. I ordered a reamer off eBay, should be in this week. The taper is the same, but not big enough hole for them to fit in.

The pinion shaft is worn off at the top where a bushing would keep it centered. This causes the pinion to rock. I am going to take that over to the machine shop this week and see if they can grind it smaller. I will then make a bushing to fit it.

I got the plate steel to fabricate the power steering pump mounting.

Progress often is the recognition of the stream of unknowns that raise their ugly heads in a shooting gallery approach to be finished. Very rarely do they line up for "single shot" "ducks in a row" event. Jim

I will get it back down on the tires today, should be steerable by next weekend.

Goal is paint by April 15th.
