dutch belted vs belted Galloway ID

I have a chance to buy a heifer that is either belted galloway or dutch belted. The owner inherited the great grandmother with the ranch and they throw off only the belted calves. How can I determine what it is? The Vet doen't want to venture a guess. they are great mothers and have no problem calving.

Dutch belted has wooden shoes, and the belted Galloway's breath smells of Scotch.......

The Belted Galloway is usually quite short and round. The Dutch Belted looks like a dairy cow.

Since it is generally believed that a Belted Galloway is a cross from a Black Galloway and a Dutch Belted and the white belt is a dominant genetic trait; it would be real hard to tell them apart.

The Dutch Belted is a horned dairy cow that is on the endangered list.
The Belted Galloway is a polled cow with beef traits.

Why does it matter?It doesn't unless you want to sell registered breeding stock.She is just a good'old cow' that produces well.IMHO
