The original subject was "Re: Hiniker Cab".

So I should not be concerned if I buy Hiniker windows and doors from a 4020 to replace the one's stolen on my 4430?

You are correct providing the 4020 cab is the "new style" cab. Hiniker made two style cabs through the years. The model 900 and the model 1300. The number signified the weight of the cab. I came on board after they had discontinued the 900 series. I worked in r&d when JD came out with the 30 series and I am the guy who actually designed the mount brackets for the 4430. That being said, how can you determine if the 4020 cab is new style 1300 or old style 900? I don't know how to answer that as I only worked with new style. I do know that you have new style 1300 on your 4430 as 900 style was discontinued by then. Perhaps you can call the factory and they can tell you how to tell the difference. Hiniker Co. Mankato Mn. ph:507-625-6621. Let me know if you run into dead ends as I am married to company founder-Ken Hiniker-niece and we are best friends to one of the sons. So I have access to a lot more info if necessary.

Hiniker and Year A Round are 2 different companies. Year A Round does not make cabs anymore. Hiniker is still in business, but I don't believe they make cabs anymore. Both companies were from Southern Minnesota.

No they are not. Year-around was founded by Mert Anderson and he started building cabs before Hiniker but his was a straight sided cab. When Hiniker started building cabs he made a "diamond" shaped cab which provided much more room for the operator. Upon seeing this and losing many sales to Hiniker, Year-around copied Hinikers design making only slight changes so as not to infringe on Hiniker patent. However Hiniker thought it was so closely copied that they sued to protect their patent. Lawsuit went on for years. Not sure how that ever turned out. There difference is so subtle that unless you are very familiar with the cabs you could not tell the difference. Incidentally both companies were in Mankato and in the early years before they started manufacturing Hiniker and Anderson were in some farming ventures together. Mert Anderson lived on one of Hinikers farms which is just a half mile across the field from where I am sitting typing this.

Your picture did not come up. But if you could repost a pic I could tell you if yours is Year-around or Hiniker and like I said earlier, if it is a Hiniker, it is the model 1300. If it is a Year-around it is model Qt-1

I tried again with the photos.

This is the one I was plan on buying off of a early 4020, but after reading your input I believe it is a early Hiniker 900. It appears the side windows have a rear angle, where the Hiniker 1300 is more a straight up and down vertical.

Boy this is getting interesting. Ok, first, the cab pictured on the 4020 is indeed a model 1300. The give away is the hand grab handle. The 1300 had the long handle as pictured and the 900 had a short handle that you could only fit one hand in. Also the 1300 was built with bigger, heavier tubing for roll-over protection which the pictured one has. I can say with complete certainty that the 4020 is a model 1300. Now go to my reply of your 4430.

That is NOT a Hiniker cab!!!It is an Ansel 'Ace of Diamonds' cab.I know this because I own 2 of them. The Ansel Ace cab is wider at the 'hips' than both YAR and Hiniker, plus the windows are 'rimless'.There are several of the ansel cabs here, mounted on many different tractors Steve

This cab has been so severally modified that I can't even recognize it as a Hiniker. As I said earlier I personally designed the mount brackets for the 4430 and that is not the front mount I designed. Also the bushings that the door and window pins go through are different. The pins on your 4430 are like the door on your house where you line up the bushings and drop the pin in and the Hiniker on the 4020 has the pin attached to the door and window bushing so you just open it up and lift the door off. You can see that difference on your pics. I cannot tell how the 4430 is mounted in the back but I can tell you it is not the factory Hiniker mount. The fenders are not factory though they look to be very nicely done. The front roof line has been altered. The cab lifting brackets mounted on the sides of the roof are not factory as factory Hiniker was attached with one bolt like the pic of the 4020 above. I cannot tell what those plates coming out the sides of your back window are for but if they have anything to do with the back window, that is not factory. Note they are not on the 4020 pic. Where do we go from here?

The little plates on the side of the rear window are for mounting lights(see the pegs). The cutout on the back of the cab roof was for the AC condencer. The doors/windows all use the pin type of hinge. The windows all were of the 'frameless' type. This cab has been pretty well 'butchered. He would be better off just replaceing the entire cab rather trying to rebuild it.

The front top(between roof and windshield) is a wide screened area. That screen was for fresh air fan ventilation. It would suck exaust right into the cab if conditions were right. On the JD and mine, the screens are covered up.I used a piece of plywood(approx 6"x30") to cover. The fenders are factory Ansel

Wow, now it all is starting to make sense! I wondered why I had not seen the same mounting brackets on any of the Hiniker pics I had found. Now if I can just find a Ansel cab or dors and windows for sale. You guys have been a huge help. Thanks. I am sure I will be coming back for help. Thanks again.

I am thinking the early Hiniker on the 4020 in the picture, and that I was thinking about buying, would not fit perfectly on my 4430 either, since it is not setup for a side controls.
