I used the water in my shop today, good news it was not frozen up. Most of my yard has at least a foot of snow, but the line runs under my driveway. I was a little nervous trying it.

I put it in deep, will probably be OK after winter like this.

As odd as bit sounds that foot of snow helps insulate the ground from freezing as hard as otherwise. Glad yours works, I took the "easy" way out and only buried mine 4' deep and its been frozen up for almost 2 months. Oh well, its just a hydrant.

Howdy, snow is good insulation. We just had the first above freezing day in 21 here in south jersey, and the snow helps, plus it adds nitroden to the soil, so bring it on....
Cheers!

yup, found out that my waterer in my heifer shed froze up. its in the building, water comes into from north side, which has 2 ft snow almost up to the door. must have froze where it comes under the cement doorway. the hydrant at the west end of building wasn't froze, which supprises me,as I have kept that area plowed. both on the same line

used to live in Mullica Hill. near rte 322 and Bridgeton pike left there when I coulnt find a decent job in 1954. was 80 here in so cal high desert. LOL CC

Knock on wood I haven't had any issues with frozen water lines. I bury all mine at least 8' deep and most of them are 9' or 10' deep. Heard from the road commission that they measured about 6 foot of frost just down the road from here.
