There is a case 830 CK standard shift I,ve been looking at. It is completely rust free on consignment at our local tractor dealer. I drove it around and it seemed not to much worked. the p/s didn,t seem to work and couldn't get the 3 point to lift. One of the steering bearings is shot with some play and only one brake worked. It ran good. the question is they are asking 5500 which seemed steep to me but i am in CA . whats the going prices

A year or so ago, I bought a very nice 830 Caseomatic with heavy-duty loader, deep, but weather cracked rubber, that starts like a car and runs very well for $2,000.

So that sounds pretty high to me...

$2700-35 would be more in the ballpark. The PS problen could be as simple as replacing the belt, and brakes are simple expanding disc type, which a good cleaning could fix. As far as the 3pt issue, I would guess a linkage problem or stuck pilots in the control valve under the platform. When you move the remote valve levers does the motor draw a bit, and do the remote hoses tense up? If not the pump or relief valve could be shot, but even a poor pump should do a little something. These tractors were very simple to work on, if you have a mechanical background.

There's one not far from me that IS rusted and banged up pretty good and the asking price is $5500.00 IIRC. It's not going to move at that price. The $35-4500 range is more realistic. If it was gas it'd be more like $2K and would sit for a while at that.
