OT Cell phones

Just got a call that was blocked I never answer if its blocked or restricted. It seems to me that if someone is calling you legitimately that they would not block there number. Do you guys and Lady's answare them?

I do, I have coustomers who have blocked numbers, but there are the only ones who call me, why they have it blocked I don't know and don't ask, as long as the keep the checks coming! Lol, but I do have a number to reach them, and there certinaly not sketchy people, and I've never had problem with them in 8 years. Just there preferance I guess.

Solicitors are not allowed to have blocked numbers. Most blocked numbers are private or back line numbers from businesses. Mine is.

Yep. Sometimes it is a customer calling from offices that automatically send a restricted number. The sheriffs office is another one that does it. I never used to answer them though.

my blocked calls usually come from hospitals for medical appt's. I now answer. actually look forward to a telemarketer so I can yell at them!

For several weeks I was getting the following number calling me everyday.
000-000-0000 Yes this exact number everyday. After over month of this I finally answered the phone and it was the nnalert party wanting donations. I was very rude to this woman and told her to TAKE ME OFF YOUR F-----G LIST. They have not called since. That was 3 weeks ago. I cannot imagine what I would have said if it was a nnalert calling me.....It could have gotten real ugly.

I have to. About 50% of the time it is revenue agent with the IRS and the call means money. I hate it when I get snookered, though, and it ends up being a sales call.

My house phone shows up as a blocked number to my friends when I call. Im guessing if I unblock it and then dial it might show up as the number.

I work for AT&T, but have nothing to do with the cellular side. That being said, early last month my manager sent out an email to all of we techs to remind us that cellular numbers go public at the end of January, and gave us a toll free number to add ourselves to the five year do not call registry. Does it work for non-cellular calls? I don't know. But, here's the number we were given that blocks a lot of calls, just not calls asking to donate to policticians, charities, or test calls from the IRS or NSA to size you up...

I can think of at least 3 legitimate businesses that call me, with numbers that come up "blocked" or "unknown".

One is an implement dealership where my B-I-L works, and I know the manager.

They are unaware of folks getting those "unknown" or "restricted" messages, and claim they have NOT intentionally set things up that way.

I seems some multiple-line corporate phone systems come up like that on caller ID even if they are not intentionally blocking caller ID.

So you MAY be reading more evil intent into it than there really is.

Put my cell in dresser drawer about 3 months ago and is still there!!!! Got a cell phone because everyone has one so they could take phone calls when they weren't home and got tired of answering machines,,,,,,,problem solved with cellphones,,,,,,,NOT,,,,,,now get voice mai!!!!! I give up!!!!!!!

"my manager sent out an email to all of we techs to remind us that cellular numbers go public at the end of January"

Do you have reason to believe that is really finally coming true?

There has been an "urban legend" circulating of this happening going back to at least 2004.

The latest information (year old) I can quickly find from the FCC, FTC, and SNOPES say it's NOT true.

No. And if I don't recognize a number, I don't answer it. I'm not a slave to the phone. Folks that know me well, know to call twice - I'll answer the second call from the same number if it's immediate. Yes, I'm an odd character.

Nope, I never answer blocked calls.

I let the voicemail do its job at mealtimes.

I almost NEVER take my phone out to the shop...I'm there to hang out with my husband.

And I set the ringer to silent at nighttime.

IF I happen to get a live one I sometimes play their game. They always start out How are you doing Mr. Smith. and It takes several minutes to let them know How I am doing. Or when they ask a question I ask the same one back. I just hate it when they hang up on me. lol

depending on cell plan, wasting my minutes answering blocked calls,, i never did when i have a plan with low minutes, i agree with others, if it"s some one that i know, they don"t block their number..

Mark,
I'm on the do not call list. It doesn't do any good. I get calls, " want to lower your interest rates?" If call is out of area code, it's not in my phone book, I don't answer it.

I have 2 neighbors that show "no number" "no name" and they did not ask to be locked, One was my daughters and I was the one that handled it when the phone was installed , so I usually answer them. If it is a sales call I just hang up, but I would hate to think someone was needing help and I stood there not answering the phone
