lifting round bale height with different tractors

i am having a problem lifting round bales high enough off the ground to load them on a round bale carrier that hauls six bales with my newholland t4020 rated 64 hp tractor.i can use the same bale spear on my little mf-35 and lift them probably a foot higher with this much smaller tracor and load the wagon with ease.i tried adjusting the top link but still will not get them high enough.i even adjusted the lift arms to there highest position with still not enough height.it is going up to its highest limit.only thing i can figure is the lift arms on the little mf must be shorter making them raise higher ;any you guys ever experience this problem

Yes, it is probably just the difference between the two tractors. We have a 7700 ford and a 3020 JD that we use occasionally for moving round bales and stacks. The 3020 will lift higher and go down lower than the ford. It's frustrating picking up stacks in the snow with the ford because I have to try and push the snow away from the stack so the tires are on the ground otherwise the stack mover will not reach the ground.

Likely the only thing that would make a difference would be if the New Holland had a lower hole for the top link that you could hook to where it hooks to the tractor. That would change the geometry and let the bale carrier tip up higher in the back when it comes up instead of lifting straight up.

Have you ever thought of using a lifter that goes under the bale rather than spearing it through the middle? Although these bales are on a Massey it is only lifted about 18 inches off the ground at the ends of the linkage arms.

This is my 6 bale trailer and single bale lifter. Although I have the lifter made to fit either the 3 point or the loader. It will lift the bales well clear of the trailer on the 3 point......It is just easier to use on the loader....One tractor does all!

We can also buy a single bale lifter here that has folding up prongs so the trailer can be towed behind and still use one tractor for both lifting and hauling.
Some farmers here mount their lifter on a forklift mast on the 3 point. With this attachment they can load two or 3 rows of bales, they can even load on to a lorry/semi trailer.

I have also found out the further you are from the mounting point on loader the less the loader will lift. Round bales can get very heavy on a non power steering DC4 with loader on it Dale

i have already tried what rrlund suggested but still couldnt get enough hieght.guess i will keep loadin it with the little mf-35

Is there another hole in the lift arms closer to the tractor axle. Read your book, Can't believe a newer tractor has less travel than a older one. Our newer tractor has a dial to limit how high the 3 point goes, just like the dial to limit how low it goes.

There is a relatively inexpensive scissors type 3 pt bale spear made that lifts a lot higher than any 3 pt. Might be worth a look.
