What is a Sherman Transmission Over Under 3speed?

I am thinking about adding a Sherman xmission to my 9N because I want 3 lower gears.

I know that the Sherman xmissions come in step up, step down and a step up and step down combo.

Which one is an Over Under 3speed?

How difficult would it be to add a Sherman xmission to my 9n?
 
The combo is the 3-speed - underdrive, direct drive, and overdrive. To install it, you need to split the tractor. The Sherman unit replaces the trany input shaft. I believe you also need to drill at least one hole in the trany case, for the shift lever shaft.
Check out the Ford N board on this site, lower down on the list...guys there can help you out with any specifics you may need.
 
You will be better off to ask this down in the N forum. One to fit the 9N is a tad bit harder to find then it is for the 8N and newer. Something about the gears in the 9N and 2N being different then the newer ones. You also need to remember that in under drive the PTO is slowed down and in over drive it is faster so you have to watch what you try to use on the PTO or you can cause some major problems like throwing brush hog blades etc
 
I think the "combo" is the only one that lowers ground speed. The most popular unit in the 9Ns(the one I've seen the most of) was only an overdrive increasing your ground speed - something I have to question the need for on those old Fords.
