3020 update

This is yesterday. We spent the day cutting and welding side frames. I did not have pictures of finished product because I had to take My son to a band meeting. I finished welding the second one and left My brother grinding it smooth. I called back later he had both side frames on and the coupler to the hydraulic pump finished and attached and the tractor is sitting on its tires. Spent most of the week end measuring and figuring and it finally boiled down to the limitation of the yoke mounting the hyd. pump. there are differences in the nose of 3020 and 4020s. Any way this is what it looked like before we built the side frames.

I can't help but thinking thru this whole project if you have any spare rear end parts ?
Time will tell if it can handle the power upgrade.

We do have another 3020 back end. We have bigger tractors for heavy work. Not exactly sure what we will do with it.

I maybe figured someone said it can't be done and you are going to prove otherwise ?

I have done some things like that myself.

No not at all couple of people said they thought about it and had not had the opportunity. One person said they had done it. but really had just bolted a 4020 engine and front end to a 3020 transmission and rear end. I have to say would be considerably easier. Using a 4020 front section would make it easier which we considered as well which we have most of, but would have its own problems. Seemed easier to make the side frames. next big hurdle will be making a hood. We have several to work with the 3020 original a 2510 and a rough 4020. we'll see.
