Winter projects

If I can get my back straightened out , I've got a Dodge W300M pick-up truck just screaming for my attention.. It's a cab and chassis , so I need to build a steel pick-up bed for it.. It looks like a '47 Power Wagon but, is in fact a 1965 with a 251 flathead in it.. I took digital photos and drew up the bed from a 1968 truck at Kirtland Fire Station.. Just need the metal broke [bent] for it.. Poor old truck's been sitting in my barn for 15 years..

Just had the neighbor come down and help me push my Hart-Parr 18-36 in the shop a few hours ago.

Want to have it done for our Centennial farm shin dig on Labor Day this year.

I am building a dobro, started on Boxing Day and hope to have it done early next week. It is all cherry from a board from a tree I cut and milled a few years ago.

Just put the tin back on the 69 IH444 today.
Hayed with it all last year with no hood or grill on it.
Now that that is done I have a IH2500A wanting help. Plus I have another hay wagon running gear to rebuild and put a deck on.
Gonna be a busy winter,
Andrew.

If it has been sitting in a barn for 15 years without starting the engine, I would suggest pulling the spark plugs and putting a little ATF or light oil down each cylinder, prior to even trying to get the engine to turn over. I have had pretty good luck getting long idle engines to run fairly easily after oiling them and waiting for a couple of weeks.

The old flathead 6 Power Wagons continued to be sold until about 1970. Like you wrote, they looked like something from the 40"s and really didn"t change much over the years. If I remember correctly, the later ones were 12 volt, but I would not stake my life on it. They were tough as nails and very reliable, but kind of slow. Lots of fire departments had brush rigs made out of them.

Good luck with it. I sure would like to have one!

Yeah I will need to try that. Tractor was "restored" in the 70's style and runs. Needs many repairs that were neglected and much work though. At least I am not starting with a complete rust pile.
