Super M value

Posted a couple times but got no response. Maybe my posts are not making it to the forum. I am moving to town and need to sell my Super M. Wondering what a ball park value is. It's a '53 L 508655 J Charlynn power steering, clean installation, after market 3 point, Scwartz wide front end. Tires fair, I am the third owner. 12 volt Runs well, good hydraulics. I am in NE Kansas

It varies, but if the paint is fair around here you'd get somewhere around 3 if it runs well and has fair paint and straight sheet metal. But it might take a month or two to find the right buyer.

I had just looked at a super M for 2500, similarly equipped except for the wide front. So, figure in 500 for the wide front and there you are. I can find Super M's for 2 and under, but without wide front or 3 point.

Really? , with 3 point , power steering and wide front ? Here in Minnesota you wouldnt get one like that for less than 2 anyway.

Don't know Mark. A guy I know had trouble selling an H, WF, Corn Husker 3 point, all hydraulic loaders with PTO pump, good tin and good tires/w chains. Took him almost 4 months to get 1500 bucks. He offered it to me. I really didn't want it but looked at it anyway because I'm friends with his dad. Ran out good too.

Stumpy You want have to go that far, come on down to Tennessee, thing is not what it is worth it is WHO is buying them. Just not someone standing around to put 2 or 3 thousand in a 50 year old tractor. More for sale than their are buyers. Amittedly the wide front and 3 point might help but doubt very seriously that it would bring 2 thousand here, it would have to be real sharp and then just hard to sell at any price.

It varies on what part of the country your in. Here in the mid west that tractor would not bring much over $2000. The power steering helps. the Swartz wide front end hurts. The collectors are the only market that will pay more and they would want an original wide front end not after market. The three point is worth what it weights. Those kits are just a half a$$ed deal that usually works very poorly.

I just went to a sale today that had two IH "M" tractors on the sale bill. They where in there original paint and one owner. Nice clean tractors. One had power steering and the other did not. They both ran very well. The PS one brought $1250 and the other $1000. The same fellow bought them both. HE is a salvage yard guy they will both be parts machines to him.

They are a good tractor in their day but the lack of three point and live PTO does not have much of a market today.

sold one exactly like yours with crappy paint for $3,500. last year. but even I blind squirrel gets a nut once in a while

I was at a sale a while back. IH 706 Gas WF, 3 point, open station, good tin & paint, good rubber, seemed to run well: AC D17 gas, Good tin, so so paint, Good rubber, all hydraulic loader, WF ran well: Case 830 comfort king about the same overall condition as the AC D17. None of them sold over 1795. Except for a collector why would anyone pay more than that for an M?

I have no idea why someone would pay that kinda money for any old farmall. but here in the northeast they bring good money. on the flip side cant get $900.00 for a ford 8n.

Several years ago I bought an "M" very similar to what you describe with Char Lynn power steering, after market WF, and dual-cylinder Saginaw 3pt.
Except mine had new rear tires, a mounted DuAl loader, and a good John Deere brush mower was included,... I gave $3500.00 for the "package" and I'm located in northwest Kansas.

Out here that 8N is worth about 1500 or more depending on condition. Lot of folks here with 10-40 acre hunting plots that want em for deep plots. The bigger Farmalls are all over the place so they just are not worth as much. There was a CL ad for a guy trying to sell an M last year, WF, loader, work cloths. He ran that ad for almost a year dropping the price every so often. Last time I saw the ad it was down to 1750.

They aren't an easy sell these days. $2500 should egt it done, but you might have to wait a while.
