An old guy who lives a few miles from me likes to take his White 2255 and MM G1000 to compete in the farm class at tractor pulling. As far as I know both tractors are standard with no modification. Havent seen him for a while but I visited him this morning and got talking about his G1000.He says when pulling the torque/power shift changes to high no problem but when changing down under load it more than often doesnt engage low so ends up with no drive.
Dont think he wants to go searching for the problem at his age unless he was fairly sure what"s wrong and how to fix it. Anyone got any ideas as to what the problem could be?
Thanks
Bill

Low side runs on a sprag clutch, they were about $300 20 years ago, we haven't bought one since. It kinda of looks like a roller bearing but different, you have to split it and then remove to the ta to get to it.

Re: G - 1000 Torque amplifier. There is a sprague one way clutch which has to engage when shifting to low range. The transmission shaft against which the sprague clutch engages and the one way pawls on the sprague do wear; and slippage can result. The transmission shaft can be built up with spray weld and turned back down to original specs and probably a new sprague clutch can be obtained. best, Yeoman

can you find lucas transmission fix in your corner of the world??,,.that stuff will help nearly anything you try it on ..
