I have a collection of various homelites. in their day they were a top saw. use them around the farm. I don't know where to get parts for them now. I believe that one is from the 1970's. dad used the model 922 for falling trees. in one month in nov. back then he fell 10,000 trees by hand. now with modern machines they have a hard time to do that. I even have the model c-9 he bought new in 1964. he used homelites for 30 yrs. since the 1950's.

I have 2 of the super XL automatics, one I bought new in 1976 and am still using it today for my firewood, got a good deal on another one a few years back and bought it, they are pretty much bullet proof

The biggest mistake I made, chainsaw-wise is junking out an XL 12 instead of fixing it up and keeping it. It wasn't the fastest saw and it was heavy, but it was reliable as the day was long. Jim

WHOAAAAAAA, 10,000 trees a month ????? that's a lot of felling, his name wasn't paul bunyun was it ????

I hope you didn't cut that black walnut for firewood with the mo ey from one good tree you could heat your home for one year on the most expensive method.
Check out for buys and prices of good hardwood.

IF your sprocket is 3/8 pitch with 7 teeth and the crankshaft diameter is 5/8.

Stens part number 085-0577 Lit Price $20.85

I could order it for you but freight would make it double that $20. There are many small engine repair guys that are Sten's dealers. Just have them order it on their weekly order.

I have one of them. Its half blue. Yes they are slow and little on heavy side. If want to cut bigger stuff or the poulan doest want to run rite out it comes. Put gas in it and choke it and away we go. Also have couple of blue XL12s and a Zip. Its still my favorite saw.

the wood was dead wood still up in the tree about 25 feet fortunatly, i have a bucket truck to get to it, the dead limbs started out about 24 inches in diameter, it makes good wood for the stove im dreading if the tree itself dies, that thing must be 90 foot tall and has 3 trunks over 3 feet across each

ericlb you might try Randy's Engine Repair of Mowrystown,Ohio Phone 937-927-5429. He has a web site and sells on Ebay. He handles parts for older saws and new.

ive also got the same engine on a water pump here, its blue, both are good reliable engines never much problem to get them started if they sit awhile this ones has 3/8ths chain about half worn on it but i cant remember when i changed it out, at least 15 years, it cuts nice

I find that a little hard to believe as well. That's over 330 tree's every day over 30 days. Unless he's counting little saplings, I don't think anyone could cut 10,000 tree's a month by themselves with just a chainsaw.

Whether they are the best or not is a matter of opinion. But they are good saws. Still buy one every chance I get.

While cutting trees for our fence post business, I used to figure 60 per hour for the lodgepole pine we were using. That was just tipping them over, no limbing and no topping.

I had one of those. Bought it new in 1976. Never could wear it out, and it sawed wood to heat two homes for 25 years. I gave it to my son, and he still uses it. They don't spin as fast as a Stihl, but they sure are reliable and tough.

You've taken good care of that saw, ours has very little paint left on it.

Our local Stihl dealer could get any part I needed for ours.

I have a Sears 3.7ci. saw that looks a lot like your Homelite. I'm sure that they were made by different companies, (Sears was built by Roper), But they sure do look alike.

You can get a sprocket, either spur or rim drive, at most any online chainsaw supply outfit. Ebay too. Good old reliable saws. Homie, Mac, Pioneer, Poulan, Remington...you can still get parts for most of them if you do some searching.
