My brother's youngest daughter came and stayed with us for a few hours this afternoon. He had to go do some feeding and the wind is terrible this afternoon. The wind chill is pretty bad this afternoon. My SIL is shopping for the daughter's Christmas stuff. She is 3 years old. She found some of my Grand kids old DVDs. She picked out BARNEY!!!!!!!!!!

I have that stupid song in my head!!! I often threatened to put a bounty on that darn purple Lizard when my kids where younger. LMAO

She had a blast helping me make a pot of Chile for supper. Then she helped my wife with the gifts she was wrapping. All the while she had to have BARNEY on in the background!!!!

She and my brother will be back later on to help eat some Chile an hamburgers. They went to church late this afternoon for play pratice. She has a part in the Church play.

I love you. You love me.... AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

We're a HAP-PY family...LOL!!!

YES, I will contribute $5 to the anti-Barney Dino fund.

Was forced to endure him daily for the 5 years I did daycare in our home (kid's LOVE him!).

I know what you are saying,I heard on the radio at work, the song from kenny rogers (lucille},it was stuck in my head for weeks, I hate that song!

Describe for me the difference in common terms. I go with the lizzard concept pretty easily. Just being semi irrelevant. Jim

I was doing pretty good at avoiding the song
Till You put the lyrics at the end of Your post!
First You want them out of Diapers,
Then You look foward to the end of car seats.
But You get down on Your knees and pray thanks to the Allmighty When They give up Barney!!

I hate it when I get a song stuck in my head!!! Sometimes listening to something else will clear the repeating entry. Don"t go to Disney songs. They STICK. LOL

I never would have known much of anything about Barney except for the fact that when I retired, our daughter had two little boys, not much money and needed a baby sitter so she could work and go to college. So I volunteered and ended up having them from 2 to 4 days a week for about 4 years. When I started, the little one was not yet rolling over and the older one was 2. I got to see and experience lots of things I had missed with my own kids, because at that time, I was always off working somewhere. To this day, those two grandsons are extremely close to me. It was a win-win proposition, great for the grandsons and great for me!

But back to Barney. I found that Barney and the other characters on that show are very NICE to each other. They set a much better example for little kids than some of the other shows the kids might want to watch. The boys liked Barney really well for most of the time I cared for them, and they would concentrate on whatever was going on in the show, so I could use the time to get something else done.

They also watched Sesame Street and some of the other little kid shows. They probably learned some valuable things from Sesame Street, but it seemed to me that the show encouraged being loud and shrill, which I don"t like very much.

So I guess I would have to say that I like Barney. Don"t watch it these days, but I have good memories from when I was taking care of my now high school age grandsons.

There are a bunch of songs that have come from kid shows, and in my opinion, the Barney song is sure not the worst one to have going through your mind! Hope you agree, and good luck!

Super Steve I KNOW he is a purple dinosaur but purple lizard always got a bigger reaction from the kids. LOL

sung to the tune of "this Old Man".....
I love you
you love me
we're a happy family..
Then a shot rang out
and Barney hit the floor
No more purple dinosaur!

We all know that lizards speak with an Australian accent. That's about all the difference as far as I can tell.

Merry CHRISTmas!

It's that guy who lives in a pineapple under the sea, SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!!! :)

The children's song that I never could get out of my head was:

"This is the song that never ends
Yes it goes on and on my friends"

I had that darn farmers only jingle stuck in my head, it's always on tv commercials, got in the truck at 4pm and cranked up some iron maiden! I feel much better now! the jingle is gone!

How about for those at least over 60. Who's the leader of the club that's made for you and me M I C K E Y MOUSE and so on. stan

When mine were that young they loved the purple lizzard. Now the eldest has her own young ones she dont like it either. HA HA HA what a pay back!

Stan:

I grew up with a lot of the kids on the original Mickey Mouse Club Show.

My Father had gotten for me one of the original tapes of the first three opening minutes of the Mickey Mouse Club Show, then it paused & went into a minute long Girl Scout commercial.

When I was a Senior in High School (1965), we were scheduled to have a film in the Auditorium and I was the Audio Visual Technician that day, so I spliced my film into the middle of the film that was to be shown to the whole school.

Almost everyone thought it was hilarious when MY FILM started playing. I answered a knock on the A.V. Room door & it was one hot-under-the-collar School Principal. He had me remove my tape, which he confiscated.

I never did get my tape back.

It was always spongebob in my house.

But let us be thankful that we all apparently narrowly escaped the Wiggles craze.

I'll take barny over that crew ANY day.

Try having Winnie the Poo in your head.I heard it so much I would sing it on the job. Got some strange looks from the rest of the crew.

It was always Curious George for me, I had to read about him every night for my daughter, she knew I didn't like him so that's the one she picked every night. I could have strangled him.

(quoted from post at 17:15:09 12/15/13) I know what you are saying,I heard on the radio at work, the song from kenny rogers (lucille},it was stuck in my head for weeks, I hate that song!

I was shocked when I found out it was about a lady....."you picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel....."

I was told it went:

I hate you
you hate me
let's hang Barney from a tree
with a 2X4 we'll knock him to the floor
no more purple dinosaur

to the tune of joy to the world

joy to the world barney's dead
we BBQ'ed his head
don't worry bout the body
we flushed it down the potty
and round and round it goes
and round and round it goes
and round and round it goes
