Limp Home mode is just that, the computer has seen an error and gone into limp home mode to allow you to do just that, Limp Home. The computer uses basic setting to allow the engine to just be able to run instead of reading the sensors and modifying the outputs for optimum performance.
You need to have the codes read and problems repaired to clear the error.
 
Wonder if it would reboot if he just took the battery cable off for a while? Works for the Check Engine light in the wifes truck.
 
Thanks Chris , The Limp Home Mode does not always appear.It is an intermediet type of error.If you shut off the machine and re start it it does not show up on display every time. I assume you still need to have the codes read and cleared of all errors. Is this correct.
 
Some do, some don't. My GM cars don't reset with battery disconnected. Have to use a code reader to reset codes. Not sure that even resets the computer clear back to day-one settings.
