Black stripe tractor values

Depends if its a true blackstripe! Lots and lots of.fakes out thier! But i wouldnt pay maybe a thousand more to get a true blackstripe price to me all depends on condition mechanically and cosmetically id pay way more for a well cared original tractor than just a blackstripe tractor!

Not seeing 20,000 dollar 1066 black stripes like several years ago. There is interest for sure but a lot of the guys who bought them new are heading into retirement and are not interested or lack the means to lay 20,000 out. A lot more people are players on something worth 3,500 dollars but willing to overpay because they are there at the auction and want to be done with it.

This guy has got a 1466 true black stripe non running but straight for 4000? Is this too much, could a guy get 15000 whit it in perfect mechanical condition but not paint?

Why is it non-running? If the pump went out then yes, $4000 would be fair in my mind. If it needs a engine then $1500-2000 would be about right for me. With it not running your at this guys mercy as to what he tells you. Might be true, most likely won't be. Do you/can you take the chance of dumping $7500 into a tractor you paid $4000 for? I can't. In good running order that tractor in my area might be worth $10,000 tops but $7500 would be more like it.

Talking the larger 1466 I don't think the blackstripe adds as much as general condition.I bought a nice repainted excellent 1466 on a collector sale in RockRapids Ia for $13k.The blackstripe near it brought less.I have a restorer that sells many redone 66 tractors series and will buy the ones I can find that run and are straight for $5K.The 68 series is a whole different level but right now a nice 1206 or 1456 will outsell any blackstripe. In my opinion I prefer the red & white ones. Not running means money will need to be spent .

I know a guy who has a 1466 black stripe that is very straight but the paint is original and faded. The best offer he got was 12,000 dollars. The tires are pretty good but not fancy. He decided to hang on to it. It is possible but not probable to find that guy who will pay 15,000 dollars. People will pay big bucks for 1972 4020 diesels but they do not pony up so readily on the other '70's stuff.

Are ve on the same page?
Your original post stated (ANY) black stripped tractor. I think ve have different tractors in mind.
I assumed that yo meant the garden tractors that have a black strip. Evidently there is other black strips yoo is talking aboot.
Could yo clear this up?

The last of the 66 series IH in 1976 were all painted with a big black strip that went over the front of the hood and down each side. This series included the 766, 966, 1066, 1466 and the 1566.

If your looking to fix and flip than its only worth what people in your area normally pay for that type of tractor! Now if your gonna farm with it well its worth what you make it worth! 10000 dollar 1466 can do everything a brand new tractor of the same size can do! That cost 85 to 100 thousand! Just not as operator friendly! As the new one! Just which do you prefer to run! Thats my opinion but dont think your gonna get rich by buying and selling a broke tractor!
