Was driving through Ia this afternoon and saw this.
You can't see the tops of the windmill blades.
Thought it was kinda neat.

Jon,
That sort of looks looks like a pic of the otherside of the Mokawk valley from me, but this time of the year they are up in the clouds also.
Loren.

I drove Iowa today too. Eastbound I80. It was sure foggy, misty, freezing rain, and just plain nasty. I saw the mills along I80 and all but one were just a spinning away they didn't care what the weather was.

The fog and hazy was all the way into LaSalle IL where I stopped for the night.

I was down in extreme south west Texas two weeks ago and at one place could count over 200 units at one location. I was told that each one represented a million dollar investment. I can no see how they will ever recover the initial cost without government help. I think once the government help plays out that industry will go away.

Interesting picture for sure - but bound to get your blood boiling if you live within a couple of miles of one of these POS grinding away all night.

Went to AZ a few years ago, had to stop on the way back...KS, OK? .maybe 54? IDK. Anyway, row of windmills in a pasture, just cranking away. Wanted a pic of the little one, a real windmill pumping water for the cattle in the pasture! Little sucker not a third of the height of the big white ones, but it"s just chugging away!

Ive seen that too in SW MN. Is kind of neat. Ive seen it where it is foggy and you dont see the tops at all and also the other way around where you see part of the blade above the fog, but not the tower its self. I agree....they can be noisy.

No need for worry. Understand the U.S. Dept of Energy received a telemarketing call from a Nigerian commodity broker last week. We are now investing in "wind futures".

What is not to like? Would you rather see our government subsidize the dirty coal industry. Windmills are relatively maintenance free and use no fuel! Think about it!

those windmills are NOT maintenance free! I have yet to pass a group of them that at least 1 wasn't running if not 2 or 3. If its not turning and the other are it is broke.

In these parts coal is NOT considered to be dirty. Lots of jobs and some of the cleanest coal burning plants here in the valley. All the governments is doing is trying to put them out of business. Wind will just never pay it,s way. To each its own.
