Silo is full, going to let it settle a couple of days and see how much more it will take.

The replacement for the crispy AC 8070 is a CaseIH 5250. I know it's smaller but they are getting it with a loader that they need for feeding cattle this winter. They will be looking for another tillage tractor in the spring. They needed another tractor anyway.

I went with my BIL and nephew yesterday while they put a deposit on it. Now they have to wait for the insurance settlement. BIL got a call from the adjuster while we were in route to the dealer, they are treating him right.

oldtanker, that is a good looking tractor but it sure looks like a EURO,one that was shipped here that was originally sold new in Europe.Their are alot of small diferences and I was told they are diffucult to get some parts. If it were me I would keep looking.

How much was the price difference for the 2294 in the background? lots more tractor than the 5250, and as stated the Maxxum does appear to be an inport. Doesn't make it bad, just as said, a few odities. The drive trains are identical.

His 8070 was 4 wheel drive.

Yea CaseIH imported it from Landini. Landini owns the McCormick line. It's my BIL buying it. The dealer told him that they carry parts for it.

I think most tractors that sized are imports. They sell more of that size in Europe than here so it makes sense. I know JD has a plant outside of Mannheim Germany. Don't suggest something in the AGCO line, dealer support in the area sucks. Had a great dealer but 6 months after they got the 8070 the brothers retired and the folks that bought em out are nothing to brag about. AGCO doesn't seem to care.

They have a CaseIH 2594, they need another tractor of that size, the Case 2294 is too small and they want the four wheel drive.

I thought Maxxums were built by CaseIH in Europe?
I've had a 5230 for a couple years. I wanted a 5240 to go with my 7240, but when the 5230 MFWD came available, I decided the MFWD was more valuable than more power. So far, so good. But there are some pieces already not available.

The 5250 was not made by Landini! It has Case origins. It came out a couple years after the Magnum. It was built in a former IHC factory in Neuss Germany. The factory has since been leveled. Its a good tractor with only minor electrical troubles on some. It has a 5.9 Cummins CDC motor.

looks nice, definitely a euro import, it most likely
has a 25mph tranny not the 20mph on sold in N
America... will have 4 wheel braking too if it has
the higher speed tranny.

OK I was going by what the sales guy told me.

How do you know a tractor salesman is BSing you?

His lips are moving!

What they're saying is the tractor is built to European SPEC. They're all built in Europe, but some are American Spec, some are European Spec.

The main differences are in the fenders and sheet metal.

On CaseIH tractors i would have to disagree with you on that... yes the sheet metal and fenders are different, but so are the lights/electrical and the tranny most likely will be higher geared in top gear for more road speed. Euro spec lighting MUST have separate fuses for left and right hand side marker/tail lights, they WILL have brake lights, if you put the 4 way flashers on, the turn signals will not operate... oh and the trailer plug will be different too... if it has been changed, just make sure they did it right...

Well, they cleaned it up and made it look good. I have seen tractors on dealer lots around here that looked like they had just been driven in from the field. Must have a few hours on it though, the front tires seem to have a bit of wear. Not knockin' it, just observing.

My uncle had one very similar.Great tractor.Only complaint was that with the short wheelbase it sometimes rode rough on the road.Unbelievable traction pulling wagons and Cummins engine.

I know they are built in Europe I have a 5250 myself but like oj said there are a bunch of small differences that can be a pain in the butt.We have a lot of new guys from europe here that brought there tractors with them and our dealers won't even take them on trade.
