Allis Chambers 2000 plow

I bought an Allis Chambers 2000 4 furrow plow years ago 2nd hand with no manual. Does anyone know how much hydraulic pressure should be applied to the hydraulic reset accumulator?

Thanks,
Alf Roberts

I don't know. There is a valve, quick connect, and gauge on the accumulator, and a quick connect on the tail wheel. To charge the system you take the line off the tail wheel and hook it to the accumulator, open the valve, pressurize the system, close the valve, release the pressure on the line, then return the line to the tail wheel. I don't know how much pressure I should be putting in.

Reason I asked is cuz some Gleaner combines have a nitrogen charged accumulator helping the header lift system, needs to be locked out with some headers. I think some plows use N. I think some plows use hyd. My plows, Melroe, IH, White, have all been mechanical reset, and I got a black eye just hitting the mech with a hammer to reset to finish the round! Just anytime (since then!) pressure is involved, and IDK......I stay on the safe side and check with a competent dealer before messing with things.

The accumulators have a bladder in them much like a well system. One side is nitrogen as it can be compressed when the bottom trips, the other side of the bladder is pressured hydraulic oil. The pressurized oil is what pushes the bottom back to plowing position.
