want to start storing hay so I got 40ft aluminum box trailer and put so foam sheets on the ceiling now its condensate running between the ceiling and foam down the sides of trailer may did nt need to put foam up got me puzzled thanks cdv

Hay needs ventilation, all you needed was a roof and no sides. You may need to cut some slots or even make louvres along the sides of the container...it may help?

I agree hay will put water vapor into a cold box for a long long time. if the door is shut, it will decay and heat (fire hazzard or rotten hay). If the trailer is dedicated to this task, vents and raincaps are needed. Jim

In my bank barn we will actually run a 3" fan for several days after we stack hay in. At 16% moisture, you are talking almost a gallon of water per bale of hay. It is only dry-dry during winter.

Fresh hay needs ventilation. Not closed up tight in a box.

Tear the foam out, add some vents, a lot of vents actually, and be happy.
