Hydraulic problem on Oliver forum

Can somebody go to this post and tell this guy I'm right about how he has this loader plumbed wrong? I'm running out of ways to explain it to him. He has one cylinder hooked to the "Up" side of the valve,the other to the "down" side and can't figure out why it won't go down.

I'll be honest with you,I think he started to notice the trouble when he put the Pioneer coupler in there. He said it had been leaking some around that hose end and when he fixed it,instead of using a swivel,he used that coupler.
I think he was finding a tiny "sweet spot" in the valve where it would come down slowly like he said,but the balls in that coupler have stopped it.
 
Looked at the Oliver post, am I missing something here??? I can only make out one line going to the bottom of the lift cylinders, is this correct?
Appears to me that it is a gravity down loader, hydraulic system on the 555 is an open center
system, 1 line coming into the spool valve from pump and another returning to pump. The top port, closest to the control handle,should be hooked the both cylinders. which can either be tee'd on top the spool valve or some where else. the other port farther away from handle needs to be plugged off.
The way it is plumbed now, each cylinder is fighting one another.

This is not rocket science!!!
 
I put in the original post that a hose from one cylinder should be run to the other cylinder, then a "T" placed there. A single line then should be run to new single acting valve. I think the one he has is not made to operate a single acting set of cylinders. I have seen that valve before, and IIRC it was not switchable. A picture of one in the archives here on YT, also on an Oliver 55 indicates 2way use Jim
 
Coupler balls are check valves and if they aren't a good match they will not open up to flow when coupled.

That's what I'm seeing. Don't know how it ever got plumbed like that in the first place. But then again,somebody painted an Oliver to look like a Deere,so..........
 
I think it'll work but will squeal the relief valve when he lets it down. That can be solved by putting a T in the line back out of the valve to the reservoir and running a hose from the other top port,but first things first. We'll solve that when he posts about the squeal.
 
Been there,done that. I had one on a remote cylinder that only failed to work when I plugged it in to my 1850. All the other tractors,it worked fine.
