Lets hear about the American companies that are building new factories or facilities near you to employ Americans. Big expansions that will employ new people will do as well.

The silence is deafening isn't it?

My township is trying to limit my trucking business expansion because my parking area is getting too close to the intersection, and sometimes our trucks drag gravel onto the road. OH DEAR!

yes it is , only 2 tire manufacturers left in USA , cant find an American Jack . USA tools are hard to find . ///flip side Locally ...AREVA Phamaceuticals is building north of Lanesville In ...LUCAS OIL is thriving in Harrison county ,,. more popcorn is consumed from Harrison Co IN fields than anywhere in the world..

you should serve on the local planning and zoning committee ,,.i, do , and I speak loud for the entrepreneur and the free enterprise system ,too many people that have big time jobs serve . it is my observation .though they mean well ,, they do not have a good handle of how local business struggles and lack common sense ../ yes , it takes free time out of my life ,, but, it is worth it

In our city-and I bet your city is the same-we will do anything to lure new business to town. Problem is that by the time you pay them there incentive and build roads schools and parks for the new people, we were money ahead without them. Don't know why the politicians can't figure that out.

Most often those tax incentives expire in 3-5 years. Plus with all the new housing to tax the cities will make it back.

And the 3 closest towns to me are (2 of them doing nothing to attract new business) and the 3rd (the biggest) discourages any type of manufacturing at all. They have in the now distant past turned down a boat factory and a potato chip plant. The powers that be want a "bedroom" community".

I guess I don't see the logic. I don't remember what county you are from but you are saying your county is better without jobs? I remember when the people of Montcalm county wished the state and local gov would have done anything to keep the industry they had. In my area there are several small communities that are only viable today because of the dealing that brought in new industry, Coopersville and Fremont are the first that come to mind.

Battle Lake MN has no logic. Haven't had any for over 40 years. Ford (new car/truck and Farm equipment Ford and NH) gone, elevator closed. Lost a Ford dealer, elevator, clothing store, one grocery store, boat dealer, several gas stations, couple of bars, 1 bait and tackle shop and one hardware store sense 1972. The only businesses they want are art/antique/boutique/eatery type places. They have openly stated that other types of businesses may bring in migrant and other undesirables. Heck in 72 they were making it plain that they would prefer farmers do business elsewhere during tourist season. Our neighbors (farmers) let us know that within 2 weeks of us moving onto the farm.

With the bedroom community idea comes the fact that any decent enough paying jobs around here are a 20 plus mile one way drive from Battle Lake. That means only those in better paying jobs can afford to live that far away and to commute 5 days a week at current gas prices. What a few snobs in town call "a better class of people".

The days of BIG new factories being built in the USA are just about all gone. The chairman of Intel was asked in an interview why they have stopped plans for building a USA plant. The chairman stated that to build/run the plant would cost them a BILLION dollars more in the US than other countries. This was without the wage difference being figured in. So why would they even think about going through the hassle of building here???

We just sold all of our trucks, other than two that we haul our own stuff with. The regulations and rules just where too much effort to go through for the return. Then you add in The new health care rules/regulations and you have low growth ahead.

Wife's cousin's kid built a large auto parts warehouse building in a small town near us- now is applying for license to grow marijuana in it instead. Apparently hasn't told his folks, but cat is out of the bag as the city council had a meeting on it. Cousin is NOT pleased- situation is getting interesting.

But don't forget that it took a local agreement for the tiny town of Lanesville--with County assistance--to provide sewer service to the previously-unserved area near the interstate to persuade AREVA to locate here in the county.

I'm pretty sure Harrison County got burned on providing tax incentives on the TOWER Automotive deal...in 2004, TOWER officials came to the county council and commissioners seeking tax abatement, knowing FULL WELL that they were planning to close the plant in 2005. They LIED their butts off...but got what they wanted. [Had anyone requested TOWER's financial report, they would've seen that TOWER had already written the value of the Corydon plant off their books, in preparation for filing bankruptcy, BEFORE they sought the tax abatement and promised to keep the jobs here.]

Smithfield in SE VA is going to expand bad news is a Chinese Company just them out.
Question is why would anyone with cash try to open a plant in the USA anymore with its antibusiness policies and increasing taxes?

Hard to find any.

Guy down here was going to build a feed processing plant. But with external_linkcare,EPA and all the insurance regulations. It has been scraped.

The biogas plant external_link bragged about being built in 09. Is still an empty field. EPA killed it.

Dont know if this counts or not, but the son of 2 immigrants who passed the citizenship test in the 70s, he was born here BTW, is building a HUGE facitity near me to move his plastic films operation into. Suppose to hire 300 more people in the next 2 years. We have several small businesses around where I work that have opened in the last year, owned by Americans, some employ extreme southerners, some only locals, some whoever has the qualifications. But we do have several foreign owned companies who have moved in and are open that have hired several hundred out of work people around here. Beats having to pay out "benefits" on those guys. One of those companies hired as many unemployed people as possible first! I think it would surprise many just how many foreign owned compaines there are that people think is an American company.

Texas Rail Road commission has issued the most new drilling permits since 1985, Arkansas, North Dakota and Louisiana oilfields are still in high gear. Saudi Arabia has issued tenders for around 40 more rigs, rig demand is up all over the middle east, the majority of rigs employed will be owned by American Companies and have a lot of American personnel working them, the company I work for just got a 5 year extension on several contracts in Saudi at increased rates, most of that money winds it way back to the USA through employees, vendors, manufacturers and shareholders.

Good news for one of our employees. His old lady (not his wife) just had their third child. He came into work and quit. They can now draw enough government benefits that he nolonger needs to work.

Aint this a great country!!!!!!!!

The Red River valley area of MN & ND is booming, I have been out there driving truck for a farmer. A lot of it is supporting the oil patch in ND but AG is doing well and just about every business has help wanted signs out, both sides of the river. Amazon.com is opening a distribution center in the area, and Digi-key is in Thief river falls, MN

Did anybody mention the new Agco expansion in Jackson Minnesota where the new large tractors are being built?

Then there's a fairly new refrigerator factory in Greenville Michigan. Not anywhere near as big as the one that went to Mexico, but at least this one didn't leave. They had an old small factory here and one in Indiana or Illinois,I forget which. They chose to build a whole new plant here and consolidate operations instead of leaving the country.

aint that the truth ,,,.. Harrison co ,. was better off before Tower came there building frames for ford in ,, think they came here around 1986,, population was around 30 k ,,they hired some 800 plus ,, these people came from everywhere , needing everything, roads, animal control , parks , schools, daycares to nursing homes , WALMART WENT Nutz, Indiana Land and double wide trailers had a boondoggle, gobbling up Harrison co farm land,,.not to mention farmboys became septic tank installers and excavator contractors ,, banks loaned to people that couldn't afford pay attention ,,, but the banks were not paying attention either,,. anyway ,, as buzz mentioned about tower lying their az off to county officials ,and I was commissioner then , yes, we gave them phonies a tax abatement ,as well as the killer hatchet team that took over the 100 yr old keller furniture plant that showcased our native timber...we did this to conserve jobs , and did it all in good faith , no one knows even Today, all the powers that were workin against us .. but now ,even though those companies are now gone ,, others have come in , but also , section 8 housing is king to a few slum lords here ... and now we have reached the RULE 4 population criteria ,, wisht , I had the answers ,,. only to agree with Reagon : Big government is the problem ;

Well I posted it last week, Korean tire builder just announced a 800 million dollar plant here in Middle Tennessee. Somewhere between a thousand and 1500 jobs depending on who is talking.

Intel is currently building the second huge fab building at it's Ronler Acres campus in Hillsboro, Oregon. In 2010 they started a 1.1 million square foot research and development lab and announced a year ago they plan to add nearly 3.6 million square feet to the Ronler Acres campus. I drive by it a couple times a day and there must be 8 to 10 tower cranes on site. The above information comes from the Oct. 24, 2012 Portland Business Journal (you can look the article up on the internet). They also noted that in Santa Clara they plan an adjacent three story 480,000 s.f. manufacturing support building.

You ought to see the Mammoth Facebook Factory going up just West of me! C'mon, guys, if you don't like it, LEAVE it! I have several Grandchildren that I'm praying for. Telling the B.S. lies that the radio liars put forth isn't doing any of the REAL Americans any favors. In other words, I view too many of you as TRAITORS!!!

Whitewater Mill LLC is building a new flour mill in the West Harrison, IN (Dearborn County) TIF district. I haven't seen how they expect to supply it with wheat, since not much is grown around here, I would imagine that the Indiana & Ohio Railroad is gaining a good customer.

Luxotti is planning a 250 million dollar expansion in mason oh although the companys from italy its better then China though.

I started working for a smallish egg processor in January of '13. It was a wholly owned subsidiary of an Israeli firm. In June we were sold to Michael Foods, the largest egg processor in the world. According to internet articles we were purchased for 30-35 million dollars. They are currently re-working our plant, I've heard the remodel and expansion is $10,000,000, Immediately it appears our workforce will increase by about 50%, long term I'm guessing they'll about triple the size of our plant workforce.

Intel maybe building research and development plants here but their chips are mainly build/assembled in Asia. Here is the list of assembly plants world wide:

Heredia, Costa Rica
Chandler, Arizona
Chengdu, China
Kulim, Malaysia
Penang, Malaysia
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Jerusalem, Israel

Only one in the USA.

The total manufacturing jobs numbers are trending down. There are many things we just do not make here anymore. Just about any castings of anything other than steel are done out of the US because of the EPA and OSHA.

Try to find a brass plumbing fitting made in the USA any more. There are darn few made here.

It will having a Texting Warehouse / distribution center next to it.

Well I guess the fact that the green garbage can continues to shut down Deere dealerships in the east is good news.

They've closed the best of the best and left the trash on the street so that means that the other dealerships will pick up some good people, while Deere continues to retain their usual less than stellar staff.
