Well did apple sauce but figured to do a double batch. Recipe said 8 lbs apples cored etc. So double that and added a bit extra for the cores. Well it said 6 pints but I ended up with 7 quarts and 7 pints so guess I did not add 1 and 1 right. Oh well did a berry blend and still have probably 2 cases of apples left. Plan to do a brandy apple ring tomorrow and then maybe not sure till I know what apples I have left. Started out at around 3pm and got done around 8pm. Takes a long time to core and cut up 20 pounds of apples

Did apple butter a couple years ago and still have some left. Plan to do brandy apple rings tomorrow and bet those will go over well plus help a person get a good nights sleep if they eat a few to many. LOL

I stopped peeling apples about 25 years ago. Takes to long and after the pie is baked you can't tell the difference. Growing up Mother always made us peel the apples. I hated it then and I hate it now. You will enjoy working with apples so much more if you don't peel them. No matter what you are using them for.

How much you get varies from year to year. We make apple butter every year and always cook 6 bushels of apples. Last year we ended up with 51 quarts of apple butter, this year we got 66 quarts. A lots got to do with how ripe the apples are.

Hey Rich.

We do applesauce and I ordered a gadget from a restaurant supply that peels, cores and slices the apple in one operation. takes about 10 seconds.

The gadget costs about 15 bucks and is mostly stainless steel.

Have the info if yew are interested.
