tornadoes suck!

I was fortunate to only get a little golf ball size hail, but south of me in Wayne NE it leveled a JD dealership, airport, another dealership got beat up pretty good, a seed corn bin site, parts store, etc. If it had went 1/2 mile west it would have went right through town. Here is a pic of my sisters place. It took a barn, 2 grain bins, a hog farrowing shed, and put s lot of mud in the house. It sure could have been worse.

I had to go behind one for the phone company. To check gensets and office sites. Went down one road. Left side chicken farm wiped out. Right side of road. Bass boat and for sale sign plus house sitting there like nothing happened. They can do some strange things.

Sorry to see you Sisters Place got hit. Was the Farmall setting the whole time. I bet the neighbors will help out. If I could I would be there. Tell Them we are thinking of them. I was born and raised in Big Springs NE.

I know what you mean, well got hit in Feb 28, 2012, lost 2 big barns, 2 grain bins, other damage. Lucky it only damaged the house. Lots of help show up the next day to help clean up.

Sorry for the damage. Every thing can be rebuilt but having no lost lives is what is important.

That was some weird weather last night. We were at the football game in wynot watching the clouds very closely. Wish you and everyone down there good luck with the clean up.

I feel for everyone involved in it and I thank god it missed me. I live maybe 150 miles northeast of Wayne and the storm just slid past me to the north. There was one farm building side that was leveled except for the house between Webb and Gillett Grove Ia, about 20 miles northeast of me. I don't know how much farther it went after that. According to the maps there were two tornado systems that came through and they divided and went around Sioux City. One went north of Sioux City and one went past the south sided of Sioux City. I'm thinking the one that went north of Sioux City was the one that hit Wayne. The one that went south came up in this area. Crops that are ready to be harvested are twisted up or destroyed for many, many miles. The TV was interviewing a young mother from Sloan, Ia, south of Sioux City who lost her home. She and her little girl lost her husband and dad two years ago and now she lost her home to the storm. Lots of sad stories. Jim

greg k,

Well, that is the pits!

I am glad for you that your sis and family were not injured.

Where I live, I don't have to worry about high water, but high wind and the possibility of tornadoes scare the living daylights out of me!
I sure do feel for anyone and everyone who suffered loss.

Yep. Like my mom said on her red cross disasters-probably the only thing worst than a tornado is an atomic bomb, and that's only a maybe.
Like my insurance man said after I lost the barn 'you will find nylon tarps don't attract lightening, taxes collectors, fall down, burn down or blow down'. Boy was he ever right.
Take care taking that mess apart, every nail will have you name on it. Good luck and keep your chin up.
