EAGLE Visited today

About a week ago someone banged a deer on the road that runs parallel to our place. About 200 yards from our place. Called the road commission to pick it up, left an answering machine message, as they don't work on Fridays. Today, I was hanging off the back porch taking pictures of a couple particularly nicely fall colored trees in that direction when a huge mature eagle came in and landed - started snacking on the carcass. Suprisingly only a couple cars came past while he was there for about fifteen minutes. In both cases, he took off made a big circle and came back. When he took on what I assume was a full load, he took off, landed in a tree nearby, and finally flew off... "Bout an hour later he came back - no carcass, wonder of wonders, the county had picked it up! I took pictures like mad, but unfortunately can't post pictures here

Last one I saw was this spring when I was hauling manure. One flew right over the top of me.

Had one working on a dead groundhog when I was chopping corn a few weeks ago, then a couple more on a doe over at Sam's a few days later. They're getting pretty common around here again,

rrlund, he might of been deciding whether or not to drop talons into the top of your head...

I thought I had one in a large tree Sunday. Upon closer inspection it had a black stripe from the beak to the black feather section,an Osprey. It was eating a fish. I got some pics and blew them up but still couldn't tell what kind of fish. It kept the fish pinched between the talons and the tree branch. This makes me think previous eagle sightings may not have been an eagle either.
