Tractor Pull

Hi
Went to the Field Days of the Past in Richmond VA last weekend and watched the tractor pull for about an hour.
All the tractors at that time were either John Deere or Farmall. Didn"t notice any Fords, Massey Ferguson or case on the sideline.
Is this normal or is there a reason for it.
This might end up being a lively topic.
Thanks

There were only 3 different model tractors I ever seen from a kid till grown up it was all Farmalls,1 ford and 1 Massey. After I was married I seen my first John Deere,I lived in Northern VA and dairy farms were every where.Never seen a deer untill I was in high school. Now every thing is houses and shopping centers and 30 deer in every feild

there are plenty of Olivers in the east they are just tired of the stupid rules and a drop pan sled at Field days. 3,5,7,9,11 and 13 thousand pound class on Saturday and the rest on Sunday . Participation has been down a little every year since they started this method of pulling .

We pull in Va and WV. We have Farmalls-Deere-Olivers-Fords-Massey -Harris-Massey Ferguson-Case-Allis Chalmers-BF Avery-Molines and of course my Cockshutts.

In NH MA VT there are plenty of JDs and Farmalls but also many ACs, Olivers, and Fords, and the occasional Cockshutt, MF and Case. One pull in mid summer seemed to go very slowly. A lot of guys commented about how long it was taking. We finally decided that it was because there was a preponderance of two cyl. JDs taking ten minutes to make it down the track at 2MPH. I agree that drop pan is not a lot of fun especially when the sled operator tells you he's not using it and you get black and blue on your chest from hitting the steering wheel.

Yes I see lots of JDs and Farmalls at the pulls but just one little Minniapolas Moline that just won't quit, he pulls in several classes and never stops until he hit the end of the tract.
Damn I want one of those.

Do you know why they painted the JD's green and yellow. So they could hide them in the corn fields while the Farmalls did all the work.

I was thinking of just that the other week while looking through one of the programs I have from one of the local fair pulls this year and counted them up just out of curiosity.
29 International, 28 John Deere, 17 Ford/NH, 6 Case, 4 Oliver, 4 AC, 2 Molines and one Massey Harris. At our county pull there used to be anywhere from 12-20 Massey Fergusons back in the 70s now there is only one. Local pull south of us is all IH & JD in the heavy classes but it beats watching a bunch of two cylinders. Boring!
