I attend local auctions often. I'm often puzzled by things that sell for more than new. An old gentleman at the last sale kept buying stuff at inflated prices, IMO, and I wondered (one) if the auctioneer had a "sucker" or (two) should someone be making sure he's competent to manage his money. Auctions are like the casino; stop when you've lost all you can afford or when it goes higher than you wanted to spend. Always exceptions, but it works for me.
