I don't know when I'm gonna get started chopping. I was hoping for next Monday, but the bulk of the silage corn isn't even dented yet. I chopped a load to feed yesterday, there were a few solid kernels in it,but not many. I just hope the weather doesn't change so I have to deal with mud. Looks like I can push the plans back for at least another week.

with the drought the last month or so alot of guys here in Northern Indiana are already done filling silos. Some are still at it. Most are just starting now in a normal year. Some are even shelling corn too but I'm sure their spending money at the dryer. even seen a field or 2 of beans off. VERY early for that.

It was so stinking miserable wet this spring I didn't even get my silage corn planted until June 21-22-23. And it was 98 day corn to boot.

A year ago I was done and the corn had gotten so dry that it was two weeks before it even started to ferment. I started right in picking a few days after I got done chopping. Whole different year.
