Another friend is gone. Salute to First Sergeant Jamison

They are many people you meet in life that are just doing their "job'. Sergeant Jamison was just a supply Sergeant when I first met him in 1969. He was just the guy that handed out the "stuff" we needed to function. Over the time I was stationed in Vietnam he became a good friend. When he was off duty he was one of the most up beat people I have ever met. He just always was positive.

He an I kept in contact over the years since then. He was ten years my senior. His health started to fail a few years ago. His wife called me earlier this evening. He passed in his sleep last night. He requested that he did not want a big service. He just wanted people to remember him the way he was.

He loved bag pipe music. So I think he would have got a kick out of this music.

Goodbye my old friend.

JD Seller--That was a nice tribute to a fellow soldier and human being that made an influence in your life. As we grow older those who influenced and impressed are going on to meet their makers. When it is my time I would like to be remembered by those who care about me in the same manner as you did your friend. God bless your friend and God bless you.

Very Nice JD. I am also a Namn vet.The guys you went through hell with. Are the ones you always remember. I think he would be proud of what you have done for him.

Yes, Thank you First Sergeant Jamison for your service. Know that many care and are forever thankful for your sacrifice to serve. Thank you also JD for sharing and serving. gobble

A First Sergeant is the most honorable and respected position in the army. He comes in contact with so many solders and during his tenure shall may serve many commanders and be loyal and support them although they lack the experience and leadership skills he may have. He never lets the soldiers know the weakness and lack of judgment of the company commander .
Sorry, I was not of the right material to become one although I did my assignment well as a Company Clerk. (retired SSG)

There is a special place for men like Sgt. Jamison. His dedication to the Corps and to the individuals that make up all the armed forces is remarkable.
May his actions be a model for many others.

JD, Thanks for posting this memorial to M/Sgt Jamison. My father was a top kick in the AF. I recall how proud he was of the diamond in his chevrons after completing First Sgt's school at the AF NCO Academy. Those men and their fellow senior NCO's were and still are the backbone of our armed forces. I served in Viet Nam in my Dads' former unit and met a few older NCOs that knew him. He was well respected and remembered.

RIP. M/Sgt. Jamison.

Pass on through old Soldier, you've spent your time in Hell"
