Your efforts were a success! From where I'm sitting they look pretty good.
The Catskills, isn't that where that Van Winkle feller was from?

ook pretty, but here in Texas we don't have those mountains to block our view! :^)

Is there any history in why them mountians were named Catskills? And how much area do they cover?

The trees in the distance have obscured the 3 humps of the catskills from the view of my home more over the years, well go upstairs you can see em, or further up the hill, leaves come off, I can see em from the kitchen window.

Great photos, They are amazing. Thank you so much for posting them. I do believe I better put the Catskill mountains on my bucket list as a place to visit

I was up there on business trips years ago. One thing that amazed me were the slabs of granite or whatever slabs of rock that jutted out of the ground, usually at a 30 or so degree angle. Looked like a plate that shifted, like when you have an earth quake. I think it was between Bloomington and Oneonta.

Other thing I noticed was once I was looking up at a pasture well above the roadway with trees bordering on the far side. I saw these very large reddish brown cows up there and commented to my traveling companion what large cows those were. He said that they weren't cows. They were deere. Okaye. So you grow them large in NY.

True enough, our mountains don't compare to those out west, but our deer and coyotes dwarf those I saw Az, Ca, Co.

As far as the name goes, it's Dutch in origin. How the name came to be exactly is supposed to be unknown, but Washington Irvings stories of the area are what solidified the name into common use.
