I took these photos today at about 12PM. Not too unusual in my location about 1/2 mile from river. There was a total of app. 15 deer, of which I took a lot of photos. Would not be good if I had a garden !!

Still in velvet, but WOW!

Seeing lots of does this summer, especially earlier. No bucks to speak of.

Jiles:

Lots of fine looking Bambi dinners there. If it were
me, I'd be leaving a trail of rolled Oats right into
my kitchen. YUM !!!

That is a lot of bucks in one location. Deer in our westside Indianapolis neighborhood are usually does.

That many bucks in one place means they are headed to
winter pastures. It's a funny year we are cold and looking like
rain today.

Saw three in our back yard this morning. Smaller 6 & 8 points still in velvet. Some are getting rather grey pretty early this year.

If those are Eastern White Tail and not Key or Coue deer, they would sell on a Texas hunting ranch for more than a good cow. Look on line at some breeding ranchs for prices. I don't want to say for fear of being called out for exageration.

DAMN!!!! What are you feeding them out there? Look at those horns! The first and second ones may make 130 or 140 in a month or two.

Saw a herd of 6 or 8 does in the edge of a field a few miles from me this afternoon, and I saw a herd a few years ago with maybe 20 or so in it. I have often seen a buck by itself, but have never seen a herd of them together...but come hunting season I'd sure like to.....

I have lived here nearly four years and this is my third time to see 8 or ten bucks along with does and fawns. However, I see deer every day but have never seen Turkeys.
I live in a county subdivision where most homes have small acreage like I have with nearly three.
As I stated, my back yard is app. 1/2 mile from a river with dance woods.
I am sure many have been killed by homeowners. I don't hunt but both my boys are still working on their mother to allow them to thin them out.

(quoted from post at 06:08:54 09/03/13) i live on 10 acres in colbert county, covered up
with deer also but mainly does, rarely see a buck!

Heck if you watch those hunting shows they wouldn't shoot any of those deer. They would be too small.

I have to wonder how old they are, these look young and the bodies fairly typical, though of course nothing to scale against, I wonder are they 175lb, + or - ?

The horns are impressive, in my 29 years of hunting whitetail, I have never seen one with a rack like that in this area, well maybe one in my senior year in high school, at a distance, was an old 12 pt buck.

Some of them just look young, given the size/length of their snout, incredible if true, they must eat well in your area, what state is this from if you don't mind ?
