Best solution for freeing stuck engine??

I have a new project and need to free up the engine. 8V-71. I don't think it has any water entered. Just sat for about 7 years. Oil is clean and on the proper mark on stick. No rust on the dipstick. Just won't turn. I'm going to remove the injectors and put some trans oil or something in to see what it will do for the problem. I have heard Pepsi is the thing?? Thanks, LB

go with either automatic trans fluid or penetrating oil. a gallon of pb blaster is 20 dollars. pepsi is sugar, water and phosphate.

With diesel engines I use turpentine. Or mix it 50/50 with ATF. Fill cylinders with one turpentine or the mix put injectors back in and let sit a week or so

I am facing that same question. I have a 1950 ford 4 door. It has sat for 19 years. The motor ran good until it sat. I spraied the cylinders with penerating oil, the filled the cylinders with ATF a week later. Still stuck. will let it set for a while longer. It is real tempting to sent it to the scrapper, the body has some serious rot in the floor, and the doors need replacing. The only thing it has going for it is: it was a San Diego police car. Stan

A complete gasket set. Disassemble inspect and re-assemble. You will find something stuck that you are glad that wasn't forced free.

AMEN, Buick!

HOW do folks think they can throw a little MMO or ATF at the product of abuse with a successful outcome?

According to a government lab report the best penetrating fluid is a 50 50 mix of acetone and transmission fluid. I Still like Kroil, but the self made mix is much cheaper and works great. Open the engine ports ( injectors or plugs ) and douse it good, wait a while and do it again.

We don't trust the government to tell us the truth on anything else, why would we trust them to tell us what the best penetrating oil is?

Anyway, there is no 100% sure-fire method except b&d's. Try something. It may work in a day. It may work in a month. It may never work.

Check to see if the blower is free, could just be that. Remove the blower drive, then see if the flywheel will bar over.
Best Regards,
Charlie
