My B414 seems to have got the polarity mixed up .I noticed the battery was installed wih the Neg post to ground and that the amp guage was registering back ward Pos to neg side..When i installed the amp guage it was registering properly and all info on this tractor points to Pos grnd..I changed battery around to Pos being ground and all the amp hand would do is flicker back and forth so changed it back..Has there been any harm done and how can i correct the situation...Thanks

You probably did not hurt a thing but will need to polarize the generator to make it work + ground

"Has there been any harm done"

Thats sure possible, if you started her up and the genny was polarized opposite from that of the battery orientation, YOU COULD HAVE DAMAGED THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR...... Theres also a chance
it may have survived such an incident CROSS YOUR FINGERS

"and how can i correct the situation"

You can correct it (if VR is still okay) by polarizing the genny BEFORE you start it.

The genny can work fine at EITHER polarity provided its properly polarized.

If the battery and ammeter are correct, if you turn on lights or ignition when shes setting there not running the ammeter should swing over to - discharge, then once running at RPM if all is working and correct it should, of course, swing to + charge

Most like it was when new + ground and being a Brit tractor that makes it more so likely

I know what you need to do but can not explain it since I do not work on generator systems

So if i want to re polarize the system i would first change battery to pos ground and then??please walk me through the next couple steps
