Close call yesterday, very close....

Maybe should not be posting this but I got in a car accident. Guy came head on into me and I aimed for the ditch. Mostly bruises far as I can tell but I'm thinking of going to the ER if I don't feel much better. Basically destroyed the front end of my van with air bags deployed. So I'm off work a few days and maybe I can get another van anyway. Other guy had to be cut out of the van he was in so it was not too good. I have not heard anything else but he was in stable condition last I heard. Please thank God any chance you get and be grateful for what you do have in life as matters can always be worse.

Get checked out by a good doctor make sure nothing major got messed up I have heard of guys that had walked away from a wreck and died a day or two later from an undetected injury

I slid off a rain soaked bridge a month after I graduated from high school and injured my knee. I had a couple minor fender benders afterwards but no more injuries.

However, I had a few "close calls" that really scared me.

No question about it, go get checked out. If the medics can't find any injuries, you'll have the peace of mind that you did get checked out.

If you follow most EMS protocols, an accident with air bag deployment would definitely win you a visit to the ER...

Yeap!

A few years ago, my wife was in a head-on collision, not of her creation. She was driving a Pontiac minivan. The LEO's at the scene said if it weren't for the air bag and belts she couldn't have survived.

She walked away from it at the time, but a week later she had a stripe from the top of her left shoulder to her right hip, and across the front of her abdomen, about 5" wide and the darkest purple I've ever seen on anyone. Obviously caused by the belts.

They took her to the ER of our local hospital to check her over right after the accident, and the doctor told her that in about a week she would be more sore all over than she had ever been in her life. He was right.

Jeez, you should've gone to the ER when they offered to take you... If you run into problems later and have a legitimate need to sue this guy's insurance, their lawyers will tear you to pieces in a courtroom because you didn't go to the ER.

Soft tissue damage may not show up immediately. I would still go and get checked out to be safe.

If any thing does arise in the future, you have a record of your hospital visit.

Wow! I had a close call tonight to. On the way home had a wrong way driver on the interstate who decided to turn around infront of me. I crossed one lane and took the shoulder locked the brakes. I missed the old lady by what seemed like less than a foot. Definetly said a prayer after that one.

One of the wife's uncles was a carpenter. He took a fall at work off a ladder and his boss sent him home for the rest of the day. That night he died in his sleep from internal bleeding. Same thing basically happen to a teen girl here about 10 years or so ago. Got in a car wreck, went to the ER. They cleared her to go home. She too died in her sleep that night from internal bleeding. Stuff like that is nothing to play with. Go to the ER!

More that likely he was texting. Go to the ER, then in the same trip go by the most ruthless, longtime lawyer in your town.

Turn it over to the lawyer, then concenrate on getting better and let the lawyer take care of it.

I got hit head on by a drunk driver a few years ago closing speed about 90 mph. My dad was a passenger with me and came very close to being killed, saved by emergency surgery and week in intensive care. I collapsed a lung and broke some ribs. I couldn't get my arms or legs to do anything immediately after the crash to get myself out to help my dad. Worst feeling in the world watching your old mans eyes rolling back into his head and passing out/turning blue and you can't move while the only person there to ask for help is some drunk kid from the back of the other vehicle who is freaking out and running around like an idiot.

Thanks for the input guys. I went to the ER last night and they gave me the green light to go back to work as early as today. I may take one more day though. Really don't want to rush getting back to work and screw something up. mkirsch, I'm assuming this other guy had insurance. They have not told me much.
