At our local fair this last Saturday the they had the normal 4H and FFA livestock sale. Also, the fair and community just built a new livestock show facility, had the dedication and all. They were about $25,000 short of having it fully paid for. Well there were four first kids that had bought a pig together and were going to put in the fair. They worked hard at it with very little help from anyone. The pig didn"t make minimum weight to be sold on the regular auction. So they decided to sell it and give the proceeds to the "Raise the Roof Fund" for the new barn. The pig weighed like 253#, well when the bidding was over it sold for $29,900, then the buyer said to resale it again and it brought another $3,100. Total of $33,000.00 Basically it sold for $130.00 @ pound. So what was kind of a bum deal starting out for the kids, look what it turned into. There are great people out there and the kids had a heck of a project I might add.
