Lost my last elder

One of my uncles passed away two weeks ago, and last one passed away yesterday. He has family to take care of arrangements, so I am not involved.

He was a WW2 Pacific fleet veteran.

I was lucky to have a mechanic as a father and great group of uncles in the trades. They all taught me a lot, which I use every day.

My generation is no the elders.
 
Sorry to see that. I have one Uncle left who pounded boots in Italy. When he passes it is just us kids and first cousins.
 
I know where you're coming from. I lost the last of my uncles a few years ago. The last of my aunts passed away a few weeks ago at the age of 95. She was the last of Dad's siblings.
 
Sorry to heat that, Dave. I had my last uncle pass about a month ago. One aunt left, and she's over 90.
 
Sorry for the loss.
It's a life changing event. All your life, when you attend family get togethers there are elders present, then one day you go and realize that You are the elder there. Life goes on.
 
Now we are the elders. How well are we doing our job, of grooming the next geneeration and upholding our standards and traditions?
 
I have three remaining my Mom, and Dad and my Aunt Dads sister. It is a reality check grasping the responsibility of being the elder. You are, fortunately, Strong and carry froward the values they shared. Jim
 
Very sorry for your losses - -Uncles have also been very special in my life.

And, in the old days, my Grandfather was called "Mr" while everyone one else were called by their 1st name.

Now, with Grandpa passed, my father is the "Mr."

And, yes, I"m wondering if we have done enough to pass on our heritage, values, and traditions to our younger generations.

Now I am one of the 5 remaining cousins that are the older generation; all of our uncles and aunts are gone. Two of my cousins are in nursing homes and 3 of us are still walking around. How long we'll still be walking around is anybody's guess.
 
David I understand how you feeling. My mom fell yesterday and had a heart attack and is in the hospital and will have surgery tomorrow. Plus my computer has died on me so not been able to get on line to top it off
 
Sorry to hear of your loss. I've lost all my uncles, aunts but one, sisters and a brother. Plus my parents. My mom came from a family of 13
she was the second oldest and lived to be 89. Her youngest sister is still living and she will be 86 in Oct. My wife has lost all her aunts and uncles, but she has 2 older sisters that will be 86 and 96 in Dec. When her oldest sister calls she sounds like a teenager. I think she will out live her son who will be 68 this month. He weighs close to 400 pounds. Hal
