Can't Wait Til They Get Home---

SIL finally decided to quit farming for a few days and take a vacation, and packed up today and headed for Ocean City to a campground.Being the typical family, there was plenty of excitement about going- Lisa (our daughter) was ready to throw her hands up; Jessica (3 feet tall, going into second grade, and won't listen to anybody) and Ashley (typical teenager- knows everything, raging hormones and a rotten attitude) and of course, Scotty. We got a phone call a few hours ago, some time after they checked into the campground, and told us that Ashly was being the usual drama queen, Scotty was about to blow up, and Jessica AKA Stinky) wasn't listening as usual. Only now it was raining. Scotty was in the tent, trying to keep it bailed out, and it was leaking, and Lisa and the two girls were holed up in the pickup. Poor Lisa has her hands full. I can just imagine the Ashley is her usual grump, and that Stinky is driving them both batty. From the looks of the radar, they got about two hours of hard rain and then two more hours of just about hard rain. Guess they'll be home Sunday evening. I can't wait to hear this story- that is, if Lisa isn't in jail for whatever....

My idea of camping is a campfire by the lake on a nice sunny day. Then a nice warm shower & bed at the Holiday Inn.

My dad and my wife's idea was fish all day and the Ramada Inn at night.

BEEN THERE DONE THAT GOT THE T SHIRT LOL

We raised 3 kids and took them travelling and camping all across the USA SOME OF THE BEST (plus a few worst esp when they were teens lol) TIMES AND MEMORIES OF OUR LIVES wouldnt trade them for anything in this world and we still have a blast watching the old movies now n then.

OH WHAT GREAT FAMILY AND BONDING TIMES without the darn TV and Videos and Shopping Malls, THE GREAT OUTDOORS AND NATIONAL PARKS WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Sure, when they were older there were some bad times but they didnt outweigh all the good and we learned to work and share together as a family unit which just didnt take place at home when all seeemd to go their seperate ways....The kids learned about the USA and Geography and History in our travels plus outdoor and survival skills and mother nature........

best wishes

Ol John T Lifelong traveler and camper all across the USA, its been a wonderful and blessed life. HOWEVER now in our retirement days we TRAVEL instead of as much hard core woods "Camping" but the grandkids are coming along now n they loveeeeeeeeee to camp. NOTE we never roughed it to bad, had RV's and Motorhomes and comfort versus the tent route

Camping started with old army blanket and a canvas tarp roll strapped to back seat of old Honda 150 and later Suzi T500. Cooking gear was a small fry pan, VW hubcap and some charcoal, box of match"s. The R69/2 had saddlebags and could take along a can for coffee - which was instant with sugar and powdered milk mixed already in a bag tucked into the coffee can/cup. Rack over back fender could strap on a Coleman 2 pole quick setup tent with a floor- this was the improvement of a rope to tree if available to drape tarp over. Nylon tents and air mattress came later, gas stoves and snall propane bottle stoves came later and small iron dutch oven that would fit in bag relaced the tin cans. Goldwing has tailtrunk and saddlebags, fairing pocketss-- but motels are used half the time now. The old Ford van has a bed frame in it that has been used a few times before the garage sale purchases got piled on it but it has a hitch for the little Vardo camper I made couple years back from coleman folding camper frame, some angle iron and leftover oak flooring, plastic 10 foot poles and cotton tarp- it has a single mattress in it and with plastic tarp is usable in the rain-and it has a license plate, inspection slip so legal cross country. Got about $300.00 and couple months worth of weekend 2/3 hours work in it. It comes in handy for hauling 4x8 sheets of plywood, large TV, small couch, large recliner around. Might try to see if little scooter will fit, have some thing to ride around from campground. 65 and retired can be some fun had- or at least spread the aggravation around the country. RN
