I am assuming you mean oil leak...yes it could be your rear main seal or ot could be your trans input bearing at the bac of the drive shaft...either way it"s a split, almost any tractor repair place can/will do that, but it sure is not a hard thing to do yourself! I would also reccomend that ya do what needs to be done as far as new clutch and rotating or replacing your ring gear while you are in there!
Need more specifics on the popping noise in the it coming from the tranny, or is the motor popping?
As far as your temp guagem take the sensor end out, hild a flame under it and see if the needle moves, you may simply just not be running the tractor enought to get things warm.

With the temp sensor, after running for awhile, the radiator bubbles and you hear the fluid move and settle and all that so I would like to think I'm running it to a point where it gets hot enough to register.

The popping is not from the engine itself. You can feel it in your feet while driving. I'm not sure what would cause that to happen. Any suggestions?

My guess is that a rear tire is loose, or a couple bolts are loose on the center casts.

Tim sounds like ya mighta got a bad guage, like I said, try a flame under the sensor see if the needle moves.
As far as the tranny, I really would have to hear more, the only thing Ican tell you is that if it's in every gear, maybe you need to think broken ring/pinion tooth? Pete

I wish I could tell you more about the popping but it just started the other day and I haven't had a chance to really figure it out. A broken tooth would definitely make sense to me though.

I was afraid about a bad gauge but I will definitely try the flame test and go from there.

Thanks for your help Pete!
