Tick infestation in your neck of the woods.I was wondering about ticks that carry diseases??such as Ehrlichia,Babesia,Lymes, etal nasty disease from them. Are you guys having a harder time with more ticks that carry diseases??

We're spraying the yard with tick, flea, bug killer and orthomax granulars powder, but didn't stop it.

Right now we are battling a bad disease with our purebred long haired shepherd "Chino". Come to find out there are a lot of different variety's of diseases that affect animals and humans alike. Some more nasty than others.Even though he has Frontline,it didn't help in our case, caught it early enough, but slow going. Right now he is on Doxycycline Hyclate (coated tablet), his stomach is real sensitive, tried Minocycline,.
The disease abated and came back, along with his energy level went to nothing.Went to the vet yesterday for more blood tests to check his levels and recheck for Babesia, not supposed to be this far north, but, a couple cases of it around Hayward, just a stones throw from us,about 36 miles by roadway, but cross country alot shorter. Please watch your pets, children and yourself,as this is something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

Seems like a bad year for ticks this year, so be safe.

No more than normal here in n alabama. Sprayed yard with sevin and spread fire ant bait. Still find one every now and then. Had a bad bite 2 years ago amd took shots and antibotiotics for several days.

I live in McHenry county, Il.
Been here 15 years.
In 14 years, had 2 ticks when I was in the neighbors woods.
This year I've had 6 from my lawn.
Bro in Grundy county says its bad there as well.

we keep chickens and they run on the yard. We never have ticks so I assume chickens eat them. We do have chicken poo, that is the cost of less bugs.

Found one on me, belt line, on Memorial Day. We had just left my sister's farm near Twin Falls, ID. I saw it in a mirror in the bath room, never felt it. I did feel the spot on the long drive back to Southeastern Pa. The seat belt seemed to pull at that spot. Can still see the spot but it doesn't hurt anymore.

Here in central IL, we are getting ticks from our maple trees. Also an abundant supply of ants and spiders. A cousin in TX recommended diatomaceous earth. It has worked but rain will dissolve it and you have to reapply. I don't know if it affected the ticks or not, but have not seen any for a while.

The reason we posted this was to keep those on here aware of the potential health hazard, not only to oneself, but loved ones and pets. Even farmers who spend time outside are in jeopardy from farm animals and pets, not to mention mice, squirrels, and any small wild animal to bigger animals, deer etc can drop them off at your doorstep. People that jog, or walk with their dog can also be a victim of Lyme's disease and various other diseases that ticks carry from their bite.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL, and thanks to all the responders and readers.

We're 500 miles south of Hayward and the deer ticks are really bad this year. The local TV stations have had blurbs about unusually high tick population and the experts aren't sure why. The latest is "Heartland Virus" carried by the Lone Star tick. It's in MO and southern IL.
