What is the difference between a Hercules Engine block 1XB3 (serial number 2409552) and 1XK3 (serial number 275515).
Is there a source for a good service tech manual or does anyone have the specs for the engines?

The IXK is a 3.125 bore block and no doubt is ou of an Oliver or Cletrac HG crawler. The IXB is a 3.250 bore block. A lot of IXK blocks were bored to to 3.250. Those parts are easier to find. The 3 indicated it is an engine that uses 3 timing gears. They also made engines with 5 timing gears. More questions? Jerry Biro is your #1 parts source. Tech manual? What do you have in mind I have several different ones. An I & T manual for the B. F. Avery model A or R is probably the easiest one to obtain.

I have an Oliver service bulletin that tells at what serial number the IXK engines were equipped with water pumps. They also had a kit to convert the older ones to water pumps.
