Cut wood! Actually just finally found enough time. These trees got hailed out almost 2 years ago, then the drought last year made sure they were dead, IMHO. It is tough telling what was the kiss of death with all the bugs and fungus' going around. Only supposed to get to 90 today and there are only 5 left to cut.

We can't always wait for ideal conditions to get the job done. Just as a side note, think about the welfare of the chainsaw on a hot day like this. I seized up a Homelite XL12 on a hot day because the fins were full of wood chips. I found out the hard way even a rugged dependable saw can be wrecked by lack of maintenance. It would have seized up sometime anyway without being able to cool but the hot day hurried it along. Jim

Good point. The saw overheating had
crossed my mind, but not that reason for
it. Better check it out now, 2 trees
left.

Years ago I was bucking up and splitting a big maple that had fallen on the Church property.
An old guy drives by, rolls down his window and says
"that maple sure would work up a lot easier in the middle of January".
Fact is, sometimes you can't pick your wood cuttin' time.

In the summer I mix more oil in the gas on my chainsaws. You can lean the carb down more when it is warm and they do not get enough oil for the heat. Locked up a good saw years ago by running the winter mix in the summer.
