OT: Historic Pictures Restored

The train crossing the high trestle is about 20 miles from me. Trestle still remains, but a new doubletrack was erected next to it about 5 years ago.

"The train crossing the high trestle is about 20 miles from me. Trestle still remains"

That's great! I wonder how many of the others still exist.

Beautiful pics. I think what really stands out to me though, havign been in the Navy, is the advances in technology in ship building ( ie- warships) from the ones in the first pics from the 1860's to the Battleships 30 to 40 years later. Funny thing is that even with the advancements they all still used steam power in some form. Bring things forward another 100 years and even with the technology of nuclear power, even those only use the reactors to make steam for their turbines. I guess it just goes to show that often even as many things change in some ways, they still stay the same in many other ways....

Don't think they did anything to "restore" them. The photographic stocks used at the turn of the century have far higher resolution than your computer screen.
