A friend's son was not much bigger when my friend brought him to an auction where we toured the salvage yard afterwards. another friend told the little boy, "This is man land". He was happy to be with the men among the old tractors.

The line, "How we spent summer vacation" reminded me of a weekly column a farm wife once wrote for a local newspaper.

She commented in one column that their typical summer vacation consisted of driving past farm machinery dealers at 15 mph.
