Couldn't believe my eyes. The corn I planted Friday is poking out of the ground already this morning. Good thing is all I can say. Been darned lucky and the REAL heavy rain has stayed a few miles to the south today, but my luck isn't going to hold out forever. Been worried sick that we'd get flooded again and the seed would rot. Might drown out,but at least it won't rot.

Did you put those blue pills in the planter boxes? LOL. I"ve seen beans come up that fast but never corn. Course I haven"t planted corn this late in the season. Is this sileage corn? Jim

Silage corn, yes. Didn't use blue pills, but I used Avipel. The main ingredient is a laxative, but I don't know how that would have made it pop up. Poop up maybe. lol

I replanted some corn a couple of weeks ago but half of it drowned out again. It's in little wet pockets in the field so it will blend in with the rest when we harvest this fall. I've never replanted corn this late before. Jim

This wasn't even replant. It just got dry enough to plant the first time. I planted Friday,Saturday and finished up the last little 5 acre piece Sunday. Been an exasperating year!

Man, that"s a record. I watched my sweetcorn two weeks before it came up. Mowed some hay Sturday. Raked it monday morning, seemed very wet. Never in my dreams would I have expected it it be ready to bale that afternoon. Checked about 8pm, and it was dry - maybe too dry. Missed my opportunity. Raining on it this morning - not much, but enough to spoil it for today. 3 1/2 inches forecast by tomorrow....

Randy, you need to stop by here. I got a new show and tell.

There's a little of that in this neck of the woods. Herbicide went in early, so corn is the only thing that can be planted and then it rained, and rained, and rained. Most of what's left to plant here is beans. About thirty miles south of me the corn and beans are up and looking pretty. No yellow corn, no drown out, just acres of healthy crops. I'm a little jealous of them. Jim

All the rain some people have got- and resulting wet fields- might be time to plant some rice. Teasing Alert!

I don't know if I've seen it up in 4 days, but definately 5 days before. Our last corn took 6 days this year and the first took 10-11 days. Now I gotta get the sprayer fixed so Dad can spray in whatever window we can get... Still have over 3/4 of our 1st crop to cut as well.

WOW,want to hear something even more unreal? I had to go to town,I stopped and looked at some I planted Saturday afternoon. It's starting to poke through the ground too! Warm ground, hot humid weather and two light showers today,it's like germinating it in a sauna I guess.

I have seen corn spiking through at 72 hours, but that was in early July. Warm ground and moisture do wonders...
