gardening question

How late could potatoes be planted? ours are doing good just wondered what would happen if more were put out this late. so far we have had pleny of moisture and have the capability to water, I usually plant green beans till up in july.

A lot would depend on your location and what you're planting them in.
I can't grow them in the ground at all here, I have to grow them in boxes.
Mid-Michigan red clay here.

Potatoes, like any other crop, have different varieties with different maturity dates. Pick one, then find an almanac that will list the expected frost date for your area and work backwards, subtracting your maturity time from your expected frost date.

My dad would dig his taters in July and plant the small ones back in the garden for fall taters. I am going to try that this year.

GOt mine in about 2 weeks back due to wet, wet, wet weather. They'll be fine. I'm on the Canadian border, we can plant as late as July 15th here and still get some kind of crop, but they'll be small.

Just finished planting a row of kennebecks a few minutes ago. Planted a row on my birthday, april 8th, that is in full bloom now. They seem to be a long season variety, so I keep planting the late ones earlier as they never completely mature before frost. I do water them as needed as there is a large pond nearby and piped to the garden. This is in Ky. Joe
