SHOWER LEAK

I finally put a shower in the office corner of my tractor shed. I plumbed the shower head with a threaded brass flanged elbow. When I attach the pre bent connector pipe that goes from the flange to the shower head it does not line up correctly. The pipe has a 30 degree bend. When I tightened it so that it feels secure and leak free the bend is pointing to the side not towards the floor. It takes about a quarter turn past the verticle to stop turning. I am going to install it with either teflon tape or silicon on the threads. With either of those on the threads will the extra quarter turn be necessary. I don"t want it to leak and ruin my new walls. Thanks

If you started it with the angle pointed down, then turn it a 1/4 or 1/2 to the right and it should tighten up in the right spot I also recommend pipe tape and pipe dope..

I just went through that and TT is too slick. Use pipe dope even though it contains Teflon....most do. I tore off the TT and doped it up solving my problem.

If a nice wrap of tape does not let it tighten correctly, take it to a plumber's shop and have the threads chased deeper by 3/4 of a turn. Jim.
