Kubota L 5740 total electrical failure

My kubota 5740 has had total electrical failure. It would not allow the 3 point implement to drop upon backing into my shed. Then it made a loud pop from under the dash panel and now no power at all. My feeling is something blew- possibly a main fuse in the panel. First ever problem on this tractor. It is still low houred. Any thoughts?

Check the fusible link in the main wiring harness. If its burned off, keep looking for he short. When you find it, isolate it. You should then be able to return the rest of the electrical system to service by replacing the fusible link.

Clean & tighten all 4 battery cable connections. I looked at the L5740 parts schematics and didn't see any electrical switches on 3 pt only manual control lever. For me Kubota parts are difficult to locate certain components so I may have overlooked the electric & hydraulic correlation. I think my M7040 3 pt is non electrical controlled.

If you get into a short condition, I made a little jumper with alligator clips and a blade fuse holder. Put a small fuse in and it will pop immediately. I use it for isolating the circuit that is shorted.

Then when I get it narrowed down, I switch to my ohmmeter and pin out each individual wire if necessary.

Well I have sold many L series tractors but there is nothing at all in the electrical system that would keep the lift from going down. Only way is MAYBE a stick or something got under the tractor right side pinched a wire and at the same time caused the lift linkage to bind. I expect if you look out under the hood at the battery you will find the main 40 am fuse blown. Now the pop under the dash could be bad...All the dash is electrical and you may have a short somewhere there. About a two minute deal to lift the dash and check things out. Let us know what you find or click on my name and send me a e-mail wit a phone number and I will call and try and help you get going.
