THANKS RICK

I don't know much about the new Vicon stuff. I do know the old Vicon mower/conditioners became just about impossible to get parts for. I know of several that where junked because the owner could not get repair parts for it.

I would make sure what the current parts/dealer situation is before I would buy.

I had the old style 240 vicon disk mower for years, didn't know there was a shortage of parts, dealer always had what I needed. Bought a new 2400 last year, only now you can change the bearings or gears without taking the whole bar apart. I think the vicons do a better job of cutting with the 3 blades per head.

We had a CM240 8 foot cut and ran it for several years. Apart from new blades that mower cost us 0 in maintenance, it cut like a dream through any crop no matter how thick and tangled it was behind an MF 168 which didn"t even know it was pulling it, even in 1st high, high multipower. A really good tool. One field we had was 60 acres and I could easily cut it with it in 2 days and 1 morning. Later we bought a Lely Moco ( Another good machine)but We kept the Vicon for pasture topping until 1996 when we sold up and I seem to remember even then we got a good price for it. I am not sure about parts over there across the pond, the blades were identical to those on the Lely, in fact I seem to think they even had the same part number. Vicon is now part of The Kverneland group.

take this with a grain of salt .maybe you have flat fields . I bought a decent used one 20 yrs ago , ran it on e season on long steep hillsides and burned up the end bearings ,although the oil level was up to snuff ,the hillside terrain at Dads place rarely gave the the end a chance to get enuf oil ,,never gave it a thought till the problem became apparrant ,,I use independent pod gearbox mowers just for that reason ...

Run far and run fast from anything with a Vicon name on it. We had two of them. never again. Spend a little more money and get a good cutter. Krone, Kuhn(they make the Deere and New Holland mowers). We have a Deere and New Holland now.

I wouldn"t take nothing for my vicon cutter. I have the pull type. No trouble ever. I bought it used. This will be my third season with no repairs so far.
