Guys, Back Last week I posted about the old 706 D I drug up in the Spring. I suspension-ed the Glow Plugs were bad and I needed to get it to Hit off to determine my Next Step on it.
Thanks jm for your advise. It would not have happen with out it!
Well, jm gave me a holler and gave me a tip to get her going. Well I used his tip and got her to Light Off and Run. Drove it a little, Tack works, 2-pt works, TA works Not a lot to complain about. Except it has a little more Blow-by than I care for. but it may be a Keeper.
Not bad for another tractor Left-for-Dead! 3/4 rear rubber of 15.5x38s,Long Bar/Short Bar tread, nice double bevel rims. 3 sets of split wts! Nice tin work. will need some shifting parts, wiring harness & lights, some gauges, seat. All in all not a bad old girl for a 75 to 85 hp tractor.
Thanks all!! for the help and pointers.

OK. Now, you've gotten that far. Drain ALL fluids, get new filters, and replace them with new. They're probably conaminated with water- which can be verified by running it for a while, then look at the oil. It'll likely be milky, because as a tractor sits' the cases heat and cool with the temperature. They suck in cool wet air, and it collects on the cases of the machine, lifting any oil that was on the case, and heading for the bottom of that case. After a few years, it starts to add up, and can actually raise the fluid level in the system. When you pull the dipstick, it looks like it's OK, but you just pulled it thru the oil floating on the water in the case. Drain it, and replace the oil. You won't regret it.

John, glad it's running. Now do routine pre-work maintenance, grease every fitting change oil's and then have fun.

Oh yeah, work the snot out of it to remind it what it's built for.

donjr, I am already part of the way there. A buddy of mine here on YT put the bug in my ear when I drug up my 656-LP last yr.
Do your preliminary checks if the engine will/should start!
Drop the pan First! wash it out, inspect for residue, metal parts, filings.
Drop oil pump / or at least the screen portion for it may very well be half clogged up, as my 656 was. This 706 the screen was relatively clean, dropped it anyway.
then I button it back up, refilled with oil and a new filter. Also already replaced the Fuel filter, and inspected the screen in the inlet on that Roosa-Master pump.
Rear-end will need the service next!
Don,Thanks again for your help!.

Before you worry too much about blowby, it may be worn rings, but it may also be stuck rings from carbon buildup. I'd get a good diesel carbon remover or Sea Foam and load it up. I have a '63 Ford 2000D that was smoking something awful and after half a dozen cans of SF you have to look hard to see it smoke...unless you yank the throttle from idle to WOT.

I didn't follow the instructions on the can of 1 oz per gallon. I'd put like 2 full cans to a tank of fuel. I've recovered numerous small engines that I thought were goners, both 2 and 4 cycle with it. It's made for all internal combustion engines....read the label.....been around for 50 years.
