In the early days the jeep had pto and 3ph, which meant it also had hydraulics.

MY great uncle started his trenching business after WW2 with one of them. He bought a Jeep surplus and it also served as the family car for a couple years. People gave him a hard time about his car having a tail that was always wagging behind him.

The early Jeeps had PTO hookups on the back.

Uncle had 1 powered from the Jeep motor, if you had to dig very deep, you hooked an Allis Chalmers tractor to the front bumper so you could use the hand clutch and slowly help the Jeep move forward.

probably an auburn trencher, trenchers were invented in south east NE, first ones made in Auburn, NE. above from items i have read or been told, more info can be researched if you are interested leroy

IF YOU think is something you just have to have. Their is a neighbor close by that has been trying to sell his for about two years now. Like a 1952 model jeep with an aburn trencher mounted. Whole thing is pretty well worn.

The state of Florida had many as mowing tractors with PTO and pulling a bushhog type mower. In the very early '60.s a contractor in Deland fl had a civilian Jeep with a Monroe brand 3pt hitch. I always wanted one but never found as willing seller.

I've worked many miles of ditch with an early IH Scout with an Auburn "GearDraulic" trencher much like that one. It did really work nice, having to use a different machine to fill the ditch was about the only real drawback. I remember it had a safety clutch that used a wooden dowel for a shear pin, I slipped a bolt in sometimes if Dad wasn't looking, lucky that I never tore it up!
